Isis Kirby-O’Connell, Teacher

Isis Reading to StudentsIsis Kirby-O’Connell is a graduate of the first class of the Rainbow Montessori School and has been a co-teacher there since 2007.  Isis is additionally responsible for creating and implementing various arts and crafts projects throughout the year.

Isis grew up in Jefferson County and graduated from Jefferson High School as Salutatorian.  She then graduated with honors from Washington & Lee University in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a second B.S. in Natural Sciences and Mathematics.

After college, Isis spent some time traveling in the United States, taking classes at the Corcoran School of Art, and chemistry courses at George Washington University.  She eventually moved to New Orleans and worked with Covenant House where she helped educate homeless teenagers.  Following Hurricane Katrina, she returned to Jefferson County and was happy to join the faculty of the Rainbow Montessori School.

In 2012, Isis and her husband were thrilled to welcome their first child into the world. As a new mother, she looks forward to the day her son, too, can attend the Rainbow Montessori School.
